In many cases, a partial sale is all that is required to get the funding for your client's immediate need. There are very few costs associated with the sale of an income stream -- in most cases, none at all. In some cases, such as selling real estate or a business, there are legal, appraisal, or other small costs that cannot be avoided simply due to the nature of the transaction. However, for the most part, the investors and/or funders absorb the costs of due diligence when evaluating a possible sale. Ultimately, there will be an offer made and that amount is exactly what comes to the table, there are no "hidden" costs.
The sale of an income stream is virtually risk-free since all income streams have a present cash value. When it comes to the sale of real estate or a business, there may be a small window of time where the seller has to take payments before the sale of the note (usually only a few months) to satisfy the funder's risk tolerance.
